Visconti Tarot
The Visconti Tarot is one of the earliest Tarot in existence, and the only one of these ancient decks to have reached the modern time almost complete. (Four cards are missing: The Devil, The Tower, the 3 of Swords and the Knight of Pentacles). The original cards are now divided among the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York, the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, Italy, and the private collection of the Colleoni family. Those cards, engraved with etched gold foil, were created in the mid-15th century in Milan, possibly for the marriage between Francesco Sforza - the new Lord of Milan - and Bianca Maria Visconti, daughter of the previous Duke.
The restoration of the cards has been done for Lo Scarebeo by the Bulgarian painter Atanas A. Atanassov.
This Mini deck has beautiful delicate images and harmonious colours. A wonderful piece of Tarot history in miniature.
Mini: 5 x 8.1 cm.
