Symbolic Tarot of Wirth
Oswald Wirth's symbolic Tarot.
Wirth (5th August 1860 - 9th March 1943) was a free thinker and in-depth connoisseur of Western symbolism. His passion for the esoteric led him to take an interest in Alchemy, Astrology, Kabbalah, Hermeticism, Hypnotism, Freemasonry, Mythology and Tarot. According to Wirth esoteric traditions all have a common matrix and for this reason they share the same knowledge and the same final goal: the improvement of humankind. In 1887, he met the controversial "mystery theorist" Stanislas de Guaita in Paris and they became friends and associates. Oswald showed a talent for drawing and Stanislas encouraged him to restore ancient hieroglyphic purity to the Major Arcana. In 1889, the 22 Major Arcana of the Kabbalistic Tarot were published. According to Wirth, it was a deck of cards that could be "susceptible to improvement". Consequently, his studies led him to conclude the work in 1927 by presenting us with the Golden Wirth Tarot, which, in this version, included the addition of the 56 Minor Arcana, staged on the basis of the codes the master had expressed in various publications, and on his conviction that the symbols of each card revealed more comprehensively if placed in relation to those of the other "lames".
This Mini deck has brown backgrounds to the images, giving the whole deck a warm feel. Comes with a multi lingual mini guidebook.
